Certificate of English Grammar

Course Aims and Objectives

The main aim of this course is to provide an excellent level of knowledge of the grammar of the English . It allows graduates of the course to be confident when teaching grammar, and more specifically to non-native speakers of the English language. The general objectives of the course require the student to be able to demonstrate a general understanding of, and familiarity with the knowledge and application of the grammar of the English language. The course enables the student demonstrate a good understanding of the teaching of English grammar to both native speakers and speakers of other languages.

Course Requirements

The examination for the VirtuKno Certificate of English Grammar consists of one unit. Candidates are required to successfully complete one comprehensive assignment for this distance learning program.

Length of Course

Equivalent to 40 hours

Areas of Study

Use and usage, syntax and meaning, word classes and word formation, noun, preposition, adjective, and verb phrases, forms and functions of english tenses, cohesion, aspects of lexis, phonetics and phonology, articulation of vowel and consanant sounds, stress and intonation, the International Phonetic Association symbols, problems of transcriptions.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who successfully pass this course are given recognition of prior learning if applying for any VirtuKno TESOL certificate courses they may wish to apply for. Please contact the college for specific RPL credits.
